What an adventure this was! Did you know that the Isle of Barra in Scotland's Outer Hebrides has the only airport with scheduled flights in the world that uses a beach runway? At high tide, it's entirely flooded by the sea, but they managed to squeeze in a morning and afternoon landing while the tide is out. If you're not good with flying, then this maybe isn't for you and I'm a big fearty so I'm not sure I'd do it again...but it was definitely an experience! We picked up a hire car to explore B

How's this for a bedroom view? Looking out from the Castlebay Hotel in Barra towards Kisimul Castle at sunset. Built in the mid-1400s by the MacNeils, this was their base for around 400 years! Barra is such a beautiful island and although not everything is open in March, that just means it's extra peaceful. The beaches aren't bothered about opening hours anyway!
