Taste of Honey had a huge hit with Boogie Oogie Oogie. They also had a number of others hits including this one, originally done by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles in 1962. Their song Sukiyaki was a remake of a Japanese world wide hit in 1963. It went #1 R&B for them in 1981. On their next album, Janice-Marie Johnson (on lead vocals) and Hazel Payne (playing the Koto) took Smokey’s songs I’ll Try Something New, highlighted it with a Japanese flavor and “Bam” another hit for the trailblazing duo
