In this quick tip for Revit I will demonstrate how to find out which material has been previously painted on surface. I use Remove Paint tool to determine this. Once the tool is started, all you have to do is hover over a surface to have tooltip window pop up next to cursor. This tooltip includes the painted material. If no material has been painted on the surface no tooltip shows up. Alternatively you can use paint tool (shortcut PT), but this has the disadvantage of materials window showing up
